Abstract

In this review three distinct methods of synthesis of platinum phosphide nanoparticles were highlighted. The first method requires platinum phosphine precursor and anerobic condition for the synthesis of PtP2 nanoparticles/silica xerogel matrix. The second method is the dissociation of platinum precursor into PtP2 nanoparticles mediated through reaction under autogenic pressure at elevated temperature (RAPET) method. The last method requires combined approach of pyrolysis and template for the generation of PtP2 nanoparticles shielded within in the nitrogen and phosphorus doped carbon.

Keywords: Chemical synthesis, XRD analysis, anaerobic synthesis, RAPET approach
